CASTING CALL ~ Come From Away
27-31 October 2026
Abingdon Operatic Society is holding open auditions for performers from Black, African Diaspora, Middle Eastern, South Asian, North African, and mixed or multi-ethnic backgrounds, to reflect the diversity of those who landed in Gander on 11 September 2001.
We’re excited to bring this powerful ensemble musical celebrating compassion, resilience, and human connection in the wake of 9/11, to life in Abingdon.
Audition details are as follows:
- Initial auditions via video self-tape
- Deadline for video submissions: March 14 (please email us for information on how and what to submit)
- In-person call-back auditions: May 10
The roles being auditioned for are:
- Hannah (30s–60s) – Black, female-presenting, soulful belt/mix/soprano
- Bob (20s–40s) – Black, male-presenting, New Yorker, baritone
- Ali (20s-50s) – Egyptian passenger, male-presenting, chef, baritenor/tenor 2
- plus… additional, diverse, smaller, doubled-ensemble roles.
