Want to join our theatrical family? Email us at membership@abingdonoperatic.co.uk.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to be on stage, but never had the chance before? Or perhaps you’ve been onstage in the past and would now like to step into the spotlight again?
Membership auditions to join AOS take place twice a year, immediately before each new production begins rehearsal. You must be at least eighteen years of age to audition for AOS, but we love to welcome young people. If you think you might like to join us and feel part of the performing team that makes a show come to life, why not email us at the address above or complete this application form.
Our next auditions for new members wanting to join AOS and appear in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be on Thursday 7 November 2024.
Please note: we are now oversubscribed for new member auditions. Consequently, we are currently adding anyone who is interested in auditioning for AOS to a waiting list. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please contact Tom, our membership secretary, at membership@abingdonoperatic.co.uk and complete the form linked above so we can contact you if a space becomes available. Thank you!
Our backstage crew is brilliant too!
We couldn’t put on a show without the fantastic support our backstage crew offers. So if you think you might be interested in carpentry, set design, hair and make-up, or costumes, do please email us at crew@abingdonoperatic.co.uk for more details on your area of interest.
Are you wondering how to find us?
AOS meets every Tuesday evening from the talk-in to show week. Rehearsals start at 7:30pm and usually last until 10:00pm, with a coffee break in the middle for general chat. All Tuesday rehearsals are held at Trinity Church Hall, Conduit Road, Abingdon.
Thursday evening rehearsals are also called, initially for principal characters in a show, but as the production progresses the full company can occasionally be required to attend.
Sometimes a Sunday afternoon rehearsal is called, but this is usually only in the immediate run-up to a show.
A firm commitment is expected of our members and regular attendance is important. However, it is not always necessary for everyone to attend each rehearsal. The director will produce a rehearsal schedule to indicate who is needed.
